Besides universities in the United Kingdom, many Bangkok Prep students have secured offers from many prestigious universities around the world, including UCLA and NYU in the US, Nanyang Technological University in Singapore, University of Hong Kong, as well as Chulalongkorn, Thammasat and Mahidol universities in Thailand.

It is also worth noting that the Class of 2017 is only the fifth graduating class from Bangkok Prep. The inaugrual graduation ceremony was held in 2013 with seven students – in 2018 we expect approximately 50 students to graduate.

Reflecting on the results, University Guidance Counselor Graeme McNaught says that, “Every Year 13 student who applied for a place at university was accepted into one of their top choices. As a University Guidance Counselor it is what tells me we have had a very successful year.”

To assist students on making their choice, a state-of-the-art careers and university software programme called BridgeU was recently launched with Year 12 students. Amongst the many tools it offers, it provides a fantastic university matching system.

Besides universities in the United Kingdom, Bangkok Prep gives full support to students applying to American colleges as well. “Bangkok Prep is privileged to be among the schools invited to attend a one day ‘camp’ at the US Embassy on applying to American colleges, with a focus on areas such as scholarships, reaching Ivy League colleges and maximising student potential,” says Mr McNaught.

To further support our students’ development, in the next school year our academic programme will offer a broader range of AS and A2 qualifications including two additional subjects: Psychology and Economics. The school also offers more than traditional academics, as well-rounded students will more likely find success in the university application process.

“All students take the Extended Project Qualification, Community Service, PE and PSHE, and there are a range of leadership opportunities that truly set our students apart from those who only follow A Level courses. In addition we have a focus on getting students ready for beyond Bangkok Prep,” says Head of Sixth Form Sara Wilsonlock. This includes the Sixth Form tutor programme, which is one of our supervision system highlights.

It is led by two former students from the United Kingdom’s prestigious ‘Oxbridge’ universities: Aniwat Pengsawang, who is a DPhil candidate in Inorganic Chemistry, University of Oxford, and Dr. Vipawan ‘Joy’ Nativivat, who has a BA Hons MEng Hons PhD in Chemical Engineering and Biotechnology from the University of Cambridge.

Dr. Joy and Aniwat have been involved in the Sixth Form supervision system of Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, and Biology organised by Bangkok Prep since 2015 and 2017 respectively.

Their supervision roles are to provide unparalleled learning opportunities for our students, to deliver more personal one-to-one tuition tailored to each individual’s needs, to strengthen in-depth academic knowledge, and to develop their creative minds. Such provision is arranged and based upon one or two students or small groups for the excellence of our teaching, learning, and capabilities of students.

Early Years

At Bangkok Prep, the Early Years curriculum follows the Early Years Foundation Stage framework of England, emphasizing thematic topics and child-led learning for a stimulating and enjoyable school experience. It nurtures learning through play and focuses on developing concepts, skills, and positive attitudes across various areas including personal, social, emotional, communication, language, physical, literacy, mathematics, understanding of the world, and expressive arts and design. The curriculum prioritizes individualized learning, ensuring continuous progress while maintaining confidence and a can-do attitude. Specialist sessions in Thai language and culture, music, library, physical education, and swimming further enhance learning opportunities. Supervised by native English teachers and Thai-speaking teaching assistants, children immerse in language acquisition through the immersion method, preparing them for the international community. The Early Years program prioritizes outdoor learning environments, valuing them as essential for children’s wellbeing and development. It serves as ideal preparation for the transition into primary school and provides resources for parents on the Foundation Years website.

Secondary School

Bangkok Prep prides itself on being a distinct international secondary school in Bangkok, prioritizing student needs and providing a stimulating learning environment. Central to this is the pastoral system, where each student is assigned to a tutor group led by a Form Tutor, ensuring personalized care and support. The curriculum evolves to meet students’ changing needs, offering a core curriculum supplemented by option subjects as students mature. Key Stage 3 (Years 7-9) focuses on a broad curriculum adapted from the English National Curriculum, fostering personal growth. In Key Stage 4 (Years 10-11), students choose option subjects alongside a core curriculum, culminating in IGCSE examinations. Key Stage 5 (Years 12-13) sees students specialize in Advanced Level courses while also engaging in a core curriculum and receiving support for university applications. Bangkok Prep fosters a warm, inclusive community and actively participates in regional competitions and events. The school encourages student involvement and leadership, ensuring a thriving learning environment. Contact information is provided for further inquiries.
