Bangkok Prep Students Attend Model United Nations (MUN) Conference at NIST October 12, 2018 “BKKMUN is an interesting activity for young people. I felt nervous at first, as I stood on such a big stage and facing so many experienced delegates. However, as I took part in the conference I realised that MUN is not as difficult as I thought it would be. Joining MUN at Bangkok Prep and going to BKKMUN was one of the best choices I have made so far in my school life at Bangkok Prep. MUN increased my knowledge in multiple ways, especially about economic and social issues of Mexico, because I am the delegate of Mexico and I am in ECOSOC (Economic and Social Council). Furthermore, MUN gave me a chance to improve my socialising skills; I learnt how to make an opening speech, how to make a speech to support or oppose a resolution, how to effectively communicate with other delegates and how to ask for help if I need it. MUN is fabulous activity, so why don’t you come and join us in working together as a team?” – Albert, Year 8 “Going to BKKMUN at NIST 2018 was the best decision that I have made so far in my journey through high school. Furthermore, BKKMUN has allowed me to connect with Sudan in a more analytical and emotional way. As the delegate of Sudan has allowed me to understand that I am better off in my position than most people in Sudan. BKKMUN has allowed me to gain a higher self-confidence when coming up with resolutions. MUN often has a stigma of being merely about public speaking; however, it is what you make out of it. BKKMUN has allowed me to expand my socialising skills, analysis when making speeches and learning to convince people to support a resolution. For those of you out there wondering whether to join MUN at Bangkok Prep this year, why not step out of the lot?
