Bulldogs Bark at the Thailand Age Group Swimming Championships May 3, 2018 Over the recent Songkran Holidays 8 of Bangkok Prep’s high performance swimmers participated in a five day swim meet where the best of the best compete. Please note the following individual reports on the ‘awesome eight’: Nisha Kijkanakorn won two gold medals and broke the National record for the 14 – 15 year old class in the 50 and 100 metre Breaststroke, as well as getting a Silver medal in the 4×200 free relay and Silver for 4×100 mixed relay. We salute you. Dean Vasarachanond made it to the finals in the 200 IM while achieving his best times and a Silver medal for 4×100 medley relay and a Bronze medal for the 4×200 free relay. Dean is on the precipice of aquatic glory. Coco Scales, our dynamic Bulldog premier ‘pup’ showed the way again by swimming against older swimmers an making the finals for the 50 back, 100 fly, and 50 fly and missing a Bronze medal by one hundredth of a second. Next year is her year so get ready for the headlines. Yuki Takahashi, being the youngest of the Bangkok Prep swimmers, won a Bronze medal for the mixed 4×100 free relay. Very exciting for him and Yuki is shaping as a future Bulldog star. Nao Takahashi won a Bronze medal in the 50 metre fly and a Bronze medal in the 4×100 freestyle relay. Nao qualified for the finals in 10 events (!), performed amazingly and has become a staple and clutch swimmer of Bulldog swimming. It is a pleasure to have her join our team. Craig Albuquerque competed in a very tough age group (adults) and it must be noted how proud we are to have him in leading our whole school swim squad. He has grown as a leader of champions and someone who epitomises what it is to be a Bulldog. He swam in the 50 free, back and butterfly and a lot faster than anyone reading this article. Angelina Allen is our modest and quiet achiever. She has brought glory to Bangkok Prep for the past 6 years and counting. She made it to the finals in three events: 50 breast, 100 breast and 200 breast and competing at the lower end of her age group. She is looking forward to this meet again next year. She won two Silver medals in 4×200 free relay and 4×100 free relay. Elizabeth Wilkins swam in an exhausting 10 events and had a 6 personal best times culminating in a Bronze Medal in the 4 x100 free relay. Another new Bulldog we are happy to have joined our team. Well done to all Bangkok Prep swimmers. The whole School community is proud of you and you deserve the rewards from your hard work.
