Key Stage 3 House Dodge Ball - Bangkok Prep

Key Stage 3 House Dodge Ball

The House competition had its first sporting activity of the academic year. The initial round of fixtures saw Surus face Panthera and Sabre take on the reigning House Champions Ursus. Both games were hard fought with Panthera overcoming the challenge of Surus with a strong team performance. In the other fixture a well-represented Sabre team, who had a full complement of 20 players, dispatched Ursus in spite of a dodging and catching master class by Filippo S.
The 3/4 playoff saw the might of Surus collide with Ursus. The Surus team came out of the blocks quickly and had Ursus on the ropes. But Filippo S once again helped to steady the ship communicating well with his team mates and leading by example with some excellent dodging and daring throws. His throw was the eventual knockout blow needed for Ursus to defeat a well organised Surus team.
The final was hotly contested between Sabre and Panthera. Sabre roared out of the blocks and within a minute had decimated the Panthera pack. The words of encouragement from Mr Lee and Ms O’Sullivan were clearly a galvanising tonic. However, Tom S steadied the ship and made some
tremendous catches to help his team regroup. Despite their best efforts, this was not enough and, in a war of attrition, Will P was eventually able to pin point Tom S’s leg with a canon right arm throw and victory was Sabres.

Thank you to all students for taking part in the games and helping to set up and organise the lunch time events. Special thanks to the staff who came out to offer vociferous support to their Houses. I would like to give a special mention to Malissa S, Pung Pung P, Pyn L and Khing S who organised the teams. Finally a special thank you to the staff who came out to offer vociferous support to their Houses.

Early Years

At Bangkok Prep, the Early Years curriculum follows the Early Years Foundation Stage framework of England, emphasizing thematic topics and child-led learning for a stimulating and enjoyable school experience. It nurtures learning through play and focuses on developing concepts, skills, and positive attitudes across various areas including personal, social, emotional, communication, language, physical, literacy, mathematics, understanding of the world, and expressive arts and design. The curriculum prioritizes individualized learning, ensuring continuous progress while maintaining confidence and a can-do attitude. Specialist sessions in Thai language and culture, music, library, physical education, and swimming further enhance learning opportunities. Supervised by native English teachers and Thai-speaking teaching assistants, children immerse in language acquisition through the immersion method, preparing them for the international community. The Early Years program prioritizes outdoor learning environments, valuing them as essential for children’s wellbeing and development. It serves as ideal preparation for the transition into primary school and provides resources for parents on the Foundation Years website.
