What curriculum do you teach?

Bangkok Prep’s curriculum is built upon a framework of thorough academic rigour from the skills set out in the National Curriculum for England.

In our Primary School in Bangkok, we follow a thematic approach to create an exciting and engaging curriculum for our young learners.

In our Secondary School in Bangkok, students will receive a broad curriculum in Years 7-9. Bangkok Prep students will sit their IGCSE examinations in Year 11 which prepares them to make a choice of 3-4 A-Levels, BTEC or a combination of both in Years 12 and 13.

How much are international school fees?

Bangkok Preparatory School's fees generally increase yearly, but we have a responsibility to our families to keep fee increases minimal, fair, and transparent. We strive to keep increases in the single digits while providing outstanding facilities and educational opportunities for our students.

What curriculum do international schools in Thailand follow?

Thailand is one of the most cosmopolitan countries in the world. As expat families flock to the country, there is also an increasing need for quality international schools in Thailand that will provide the best education that money can buy. Luckily, there are a large number of institutions in and around the city of Bangkok that cater to the needs of expat families. These institutions offer a wide selection of curriculums that parents can choose from. Below is a rundown of different curriculums offered by international schools.

Which additional languages are taught?

The teachers at our British international school in Bangkok are native English speakers and English will be used in the classroom.

Our World Language Programme in both Primary and Secondary offers:

Language Options by Year Group:

Year 1: World language carousel of multiple languages throughout the year
Years 2-6: One world language is selected
Years 7-9: Two world languages are selected
Years 10-11: One world language is mandatory, but two are optional
Years 12-13: World Languages are available but optional

*Some languages are available in our ECA programme. Please check with our admissions team to see if a language you are interested in is currently available.

*As per the requirements of the Ministry of Education, all Thai students who only hold a Thai passport must study Thai as one of their world language option(s).

How do you provide feedback to parents?

Our school values easy and regular communication with our wonderful parent community. Our teachers are accessible through email and Firefly. What is the IGCSE, GCSE programme?

The General Certificate of Secondary Education is a two year programme that spans from Year 10 through to the end of Year 11. It is the foundation for worldwide university entry and prepares young people for the A Level programme and any other examination system for 16 – 18 year olds.

What is the A Level programme?
The Advanced Level General Certificate of Education is a well-respected and world renowned programme of study that is said to give a student depth of knowledge in each subject studied. The programme was established in the United Kingdom in the 1950s and is widely known throughout the world as the gold standard of education, helping to prepare students for university. The A Level programme or the A levels are divided in to two one year courses of study; AS during Year 12 followed by A2 in Year 13. The AS allows students to study several subjects in their first year and then adapt to specialise in A2.

What documents are required for all applicants?

All applicants are asked to submit the following:

A completed application form
A passport-style digital photograph of the student
End-of-year school reports for the last two academic years
An interim school report for the current academic year (if available)

What additional documents are required for non-Thai applicants?

Non-Thai applicants will also need to provide:

A photocopy of the student’s passpor
A photocopy of the parent(s)’ passport(s)

What additional documents are required for Thai applicants?

Thai applicants are asked to submit:

A photocopy of the student’s birth certificate
A photocopy of the house registration
A photocopy of the parent(s)’ Thai ID card

Do documents need to be originals?

No—clear photocopies or digital scans are sufficient unless otherwise requested by the Admissions Team.

What if some documents are not available yet?

If certain documents are not immediately available (such as an interim school report), please submit what you have and inform the Admissions Team. They will advise you on next steps.

How should documents be submitted?

Documents can be uploaded as part of the online application process or shared directly with the Admissions Team, following the instructions provided during enquiry or application.

Who can I contact if I have questions about documentation?

If you have any questions or need support gathering documents, the Admissions Team is happy to help and guide you through the process.

What is the purpose of the assessment?

The assessment helps us understand your child’s current learning level so we can place them in the right year group and provide appropriate academic support from the start.

How long does the assessment take?

Assessment length varies by age group:

Early Years: Approximately 30–45 minutes
Years 1–2: Approximately 1.5–2 hours
Years 3–6: Approximately 2.5–3 hours
Years 7–12: Approximately 2.5–3 hours

Some year groups may attend for a full morning.

What does the assessment include for Early Years?

Early Years children take part in a welcome session in the classroom, designed to be relaxed and age-appropriate. This allows teachers to observe social interaction, communication, and early learning skills in a familiar setting.

What does the assessment include for Years 1–2?

Students in Years 1–2 typically participate in:

What is the CAT4 assessment?

CAT4 (Cognitive Abilities Test) helps us understand how students think and learn. It assesses reasoning skills rather than prior knowledge, giving insight into a student’s learning potential.

What is the Oxford Online Placement Test?

This test assesses English language proficiency to ensure students receive the right level of support in the classroom.

Will my child be interviewed?

For some year groups, particularly Years 7–12, students may have an interview with a member of the Academic Team. This is an informal conversation designed to get to know the student better.

Is the assessment stressful?

We aim to make the experience as positive and supportive as possible. Classroom welcome sessions, friendly staff, and age-appropriate activities help students feel comfortable and confident.

Will parents receive feedback?

Yes. Assessment outcomes are shared with families as part of the admissions process and help guide placement and support decisions.
