Letter from the Head of School – 9 June 2017 - Bangkok Prep

Letter from the Head of School – 9 June 2017

By Head of School Valerie Thomas-Peter

It has been another busy week in school with preparations gaining momentum for our ‘big move’ to our new Secondary campus at T77 over the summer. We will begin packing and moving in earnest as soon as Bangkok Prep breaks up on June 27th, with the next 3 days being designated as ‘training days’ for all of the staff in school.

Our end of year events and celebrations continue unabated and we are all looking forward to the KS4 and 5 Prom which will be held tomorrow at the Radisson Blu Plaza Asok. We are looking forward to seeing our older students all beautifully dressed for this very special ‘rite of passage’.

Our ‘Prize Giving’ Ceremonies are all planned for the last full week of term so parents of prize winners should be on the look-out for their invitations to the event which will be sent out in due course. This year all of our Prize Giving Ceremonies will be held in the Auditorium.

Finally, please find below a few more bios of new staff who will be joining us in August.

I hope that you have a lovely weekend.

Catherine Frisbie – Music Teacher

Hello, my name is Catherine Frisbie and I am excited to be joining Bangkok Prep in the coming school year. I have worked in Bangkok the last four years and look forward to teaching Primary Music. After completing my studies in music education, I worked in US schools for a year before moving out to Thailand. I particularly enjoy the challenges, community and unique experiences that international schools offer. Outside of school and music I spend my time with outdoor activities, reading, and travelling. I am thrilled to share my love of music with students in the upcoming academic year at Bangkok Prep.

Natasha Jones – Foundation / Key Stage 1 Teacher

My name is Natasha and I am very much looking forward to joining the Key Stage 1 team at Bangkok Prep. Early Childhood Education is my passion and as well as teaching I am studying for a Master’s Degree in Early Childhood. Bangkok has been my home for the last three years. I love living in Thailand. In my holidays, I enjoy exploring different countries especially if I get to do different activities. I love skiing and have skied in Japan as well as Europe. I also enjoy playing in the Bangkok Netball League on a Monday evening. Yoga is another hobby of mine. I practise at a yoga studio and with the students in my classes. For the last three years, I have been the English and Literacy Coordinator, so in and out of school, reading and books are a huge part of my life. I particularly like cooking books as I love to cook and bake especially different delicious treats. I am really looking forward to getting to know the children, parents, the staff and the whole Bangkok Prep community!

Chloe McEwan – PE Teacher

Hello, my name is Chloe McEwan and I am PE teacher. I have taught for 8 years now in the UK, Tanzania and in Thailand. I am really looking forward to teaching at Bangkok Prep and moving to Bangkok and being in the city. I have lived in Thailand for nearly three years now and enjoy the culture, history and food! I am a massive football and basketball fan and cannot wait to start coaching at Bangkok Prep and hopefully winning local and FOBISIA competitions! I am excited to be part of the teaching team at Bangkok Prep and meeting the school community for the new academic year.

Sarah Noble – Foundation / Key Stage 1 Teacher

Hello, my name is Sarah and I am from Leicester in the UK. I am in my fourth year of teaching and I currently work as a Reception teacher in Brazil. Although I value the experience that I have gained from working in the early years, I am ready for a new challenge and look forward to joining the Year 1 team at Bangkok Prep. I am enjoying living in Brazil and visiting the rest of South America and love to travel and experience different cultures. I also love reading, exploring the outdoors, swimming and snorkelling. My partner Michael will also be moving to Thailand and we are very excited about starting our new life there and joining the Bangkok Prep community.
