Message from the Head of Secondary - 31st August 2018 - Bangkok Prep

Message from the Head of Secondary – 31st August 2018

Dear Students, Parents and Colleagues,

I hope you all had an enjoyable and refreshing break over the Summer and are looking forward to the year ahead. As well as welcoming back all existing students and parents I would also like to warmly welcome all new students, parents and teachers. I am sure you will be very happy within our community and look forward to meeting you all at some point.

Our students were treated to two days of induction last week to get them into good habits and remember what it means to be at Bangkok Prep. Our House Flash Mob on Friday afternoon proved to be a great success with over 600 students and staff dancing with great energy to a number of songs. Ursus were judged the winners with ‘YMCA’, whilst Sabre’s ‘Thriller’ was a very close second. Winning wasn’t really the point of the activity, however, as we wanted students of all ages to work together on something that gave a lot of fun. Please ask your child to show you their newly learnt dance moves!

The middle of August is always an anxious time for our older students (and parents) as IGCSE and A Level exam results are released. Hopefully, you have been able to see our press releases in our celebration of yet another set of excellent results. Our A Level results have allowed all our graduates to gain places at Universities of their choice, whilst our IGCSE results have improved on already very high standards, incredibly nearly 50% of all IGCSE Grades are A or A*. Please head to for more details. I would very much like to congratulate the students for their achievements, but also the team of teachers and parents helping them on their paths to success.

Letters have already gone out to parents inviting them to our Parent Information Evening next Thursday, 6th September and I would strongly recommend you attend to hear about our curriculum, pastoral care and methods of teaching and learning. Please note that forums for discussing student progress occur later in the year and the evening is an opportunity to meet teachers and visit our learning areas.

We have a lot of Parent Workshops lined up for the Term and I recommend you attend as many as you can to understand how and why we do things the way we do. First up will be Residential Briefings in preparation for our Secondary School Residentials for the week of 1st-5th October.

I think we are going to have another great year!

Kind regards

Nigel Wilsonlock
