A Level Students Gel Electrophoresis Practical Academic, BKK Prep, News, Secondary October 8, 2020 Gel electrophoresis is a basic biotechnology that separates macromolecules according to their size and charge. In this activity, five known samples and three unknown dye mixtures were subjected to gel electrophoresis. Some dyes were attracted to the negative electrode and some to the positive electrode. Students identified the components of the unknown dye mixtures by comparing the migration distances and direction of the unknown dyes to those of the known dye samples.
