A sailor went to sea, sea, sea… BKK Prep, Event, News, Secondary, Sport March 10, 2023 A sailor went to sea, sea, sea…. Well actually, 8 secondary students went to sea. Izzy, Emma and Ollie from Y7, Tota and Navin from Y8 and Theo, Emmie and Rhiannon from Y9 all took part in the first post-Covid sailing trip. They went to the Royal Varuna Yacht Club in Jomtien and took part in different theory and practical sessions between Tuesday and Thursday. Every session brought different challenges (low wind, strong currents) that required the sailors to use a range of skills and adapt all the time. They also learnt how to rig a boat and practise making knots. We are hoping to run a similar trip early next academic year. If your child is interested in coming, ask them to speak to Mr or Mrs Richards-Gourves and we will make sure we keep them informed of any future opportunities to experience sailing.
