A Team Effort for Primary Book Week BKK Prep, Early Years, Event, News, Primary, Whole School March 13, 2020 Book Week is a wonderful opportunity for us to celebrate reading and share our love of books, both at home and at school. Book week is most successful when families support us in school. Although parents were not able to attend the parade there have still been lots of opportunities to get involved! We were delighted with the effort and thought that had gone into preparation for this year’s character book parade. At the Parade, members of the FOBP were present to select prize winners from Early Years, KS 1 and KS 2. They found it very difficult to select winners as there were so many fantastic book characters on show. Here was their final choice. The lucky winners will each receive a 500 THB book voucher. Early Years: Day – NEG (Ladybirds) KS1: Home – 1MT KS2: Jessica – 3MC The Primary Book Week Parade: In the run up to Book Week, two challenges were set to complete at home. The first challenge was to take a photograph of themselves being “caught reading for pleasure”. We had some fantastic entries which we have been able to display in the Undercroft and Early Years Garden. We asked the children in each year group to select a winner. Here were their choices. The FOBP have kindly awarded these winners with a voucher for upcoming events. See some of these great photos. The second challenge was to make a short film to review or retell a familiar story. We have been delighted to share these in our classes and the children involved have become minor celebrities, starring in their own productions! We also invited parents in as storytellers, sharing their own favourite stories in one of our story telling areas. Stories have been shared in many languages and from lots of different cultures. The children have loved this extra opportunity to engage their imagination in a story. Story Telling: We would like to thank all the parents and children who took part in any way this week whether it was when preparing a costume or telling a story. There is a special thanks to the FOBP for supporting us with prizes and giving everyone lots of encouragement to get involved! Congratulations on your University Offers Nammon K.
