Bangkok Air Quality BKK Prep, Message from the Head of School, News, Primary, Secondary, Whole School January 22, 2020 Dear Parents, Re: Bangkok Air Quality As you may be aware, the air quality in Bangkok has deteriorated recently. While this is clearly beyond the control of Bangkok Prep, we are doing everything we can to ensure the health and safety of our students. As a school, we have very clear guidelines and procedures which we follow if the air quality surrounding our two campuses becomes a concern. The Bangkok Prep Air Quality Guidelines have been developed in conjunction with other highly respected international schools in Bangkok. We are extremely fortunate to have high quality facilities at Bangkok Prep. Interior learning spaces, on both campuses, are fitted with air purifiers. This helps to ensure that the quality of the air that our children and staff breathe is healthy. Investment for a healthy future If the air quality deteriorates and is unhealthy during lunch and break times, then the Primary children will eat their food in the indoor shared learning spaces. In response to the worsening condition of the air, the school has decided to develop and enclose the cafeteria on both of our campuses and we have already confirmed the contractor who will carry out these plans. This will be a phased development which will begin with the Early Years Cafeteria. The second floor cafeteria at the Secondary Campus is already enclosed. Please be assured that if students are taking part on day trips and residentials, the trip leader will also be following our school’s Air Quality Guidelines. Bangkok Prep will remain open and will continue to take steps to ensure the staff and students have minimal exposure. As always, the safety of the school community, and the students in particular remain our highest priority and we will continue to be vigilant. We will continue to carefully and regularly monitor the air quality levels and, where necessary, limit the time that students and staff spend outdoors.
