Bangkok (June 19th 2019) – Further plans are underway for the development of the Secondary School. The construction of the 4th building, ‘Block D’, will start this summer from July 2019. This will allow Bangkok Prep to expand its current provision and to offer new additional subjects such as Media Studies. As a result of this exciting development, there will be an additional 1,000 m2 of academic study space. Block D will be dedicated to the Sixth Form Centre, consisting of 21st century learning spaces and a “co-working space concept” for group studies, research rooms, University Guidance Suite, assembly spaces and a self-service cafeteria for the kitchen – all of which will cater to our Sixth Form students. The maximum capacity for the Sixth Form will be 240 students.

There will be additional developments in our excellent pastoral care, including our own ‘Student Pathways’ provision – incorporating University Guidance Counselling, Career Guidance and a Gifted and Talented Programme catering to the most able students. These developments will enable every single student to reach their full potential and be successful when graduating from Bangkok Prep.

“Our Sixth Form programme has been in high demand for the past few years. We are lucky to attract the very best teachers from around the world to come and teach at Bangkok Prep. We offer a rigorous A Level programme with an exceptionally wide range of subjects, preparing students for university and beyond with personalised and tailored provision. Our ethos is for every student to leave the school a well-rounded individual. This is not achieved by the excellent examination results alone, but by having the opportunity to develop extra-curricular interests, build their leadership skills and engage in community service. We are so proud that Bangkok Prep students embrace and embody the school’s Life Values. Our growing graduating classes have the opportunity and experience to be truly community minded, giving back to society, as well as engaging with the international opportunities they will encounter as global citizens.” Tia Court Smith, Head of Secondary Designate.

Seven cohorts have graduated from Bangkok Prep and our students have received offers from prestigious universities around the world such as Imperial College London, London School of Economics (LSE), University College London (UCL), University of California at Los Angeles (UCLA), New York University (NYU) and many more universities placed highly in the world university rankings including the prestigious Russell Group of UK universities.

Bangkok Prep Secondary School at Sukhumvit 77 is now in its third year of operation. The school’s Board of Directors aim to maintain the highest standards amidst the school’s growing popularity.

Construction of Block D is expected to be completed ready for students to start using the facility from August 2020. Bangkok Prep is currently the only international school in Bangkok’s Sukhumvit area which offers the A Level programme.

Additional Information:

There are four main components of the Bangkok Prep A Level Programme that give each student a challenging, enriching and personalised curriculum.

  1. Students usually choose 3 or 4 Advanced Level Qualifications (A Levels) that form the majority of their lessons and are the basis of their independent study. They are able to choose from a broad selection of qualifications: Art, Biology, Business Studies, Chemistry, Computer Science, Design Technology, Drama, Economics, English Literature, French, Further Mathematics, Geography, History, Mandarin, Mathematics, Media Studies, Photography, Physical Education, Physics and Psychology.
  2. Students have an opportunity to participate in the Bangkok Prep Extended Project Qualification (EPQ) programme. Gaining the EPQ qualification is the equivalent of half an extra A Level. Importantly, students can create a project that is unique to them and that they are passionate about. Often, they choose an area that best helps to prepare them for their University applications. The project outcome may be a written report of 5,000 words, a performance, a piece of artwork, a community project, CD, DVD or even computer software.
  3. All our students also complete a Community Service component throughout their tenure at the Sixth Form. Many students accumulate one hundred hours of service.
  4. The Sixth form students also complete a Core Curriculum of learning experiences that help them to become the young adults they are on graduation. This includes Personal Social Health Education (PSHE), Physical Education and Thai Cultural Studies.
