What motivated you to choose this university(s) and program/course/major?

I have chosen my university based on its ranking in my major, as this is the most straightforward method for selection. Subsequently, I considered the country where I envision myself living, confident that it offers numerous opportunities and a fulfilling environment. I acknowledge that selecting a university based on rankings can be stressful, but I am eager to challenge myself and embrace the experience. Additionally, I have thoroughly reviewed the research opportunities and resources that the university provides. My course selection is aligned explicitly with my A-level options. While my plans are not definitive, this is the path I currently foresee for myself.

What did you study at A-Level?

Maths, Further Maths, Chemistry and Physics.

How has your time at Bangkok Prep prepared you for your university studies?

I believe that the timeline suggested by the counselors is the most effective for students to follow, even though I personally missed several deadlines and rushed some of my applications. Additionally, there were mock interviews and practice sessions available.

Can you share a specific example or story where a teacher/staff or course at your school particularly helped you in your university application process?

My counselor has been immensely helpful, and I would not be where I am without their support. They have suggested university destinations that align with my personality and provided honest feedback, unafraid to question my decisions to help me determine what is best for me. Additionally, they have assisted in reviewing my personal essay and statement, offering suggestions and raising pertinent questions. I believe these writings are crucial, as they are the primary evidence showcasing your true self to the university. If your essay has not gone through at least five drafts, I strongly recommend revising it further. I have also had my subject teacher review the scientific parts to ensure they make sense and are understandable.

What ECA/Community Service/Work Experience activities were you involved in both in school and outside, and how did these experiences influence your university choice or career aspirations?

My community service experience was very useful for writing some of my essays, as the skills I developed extend beyond academics and can only be gained through active engagement with others. Internships are also crucial, as they provide insight into the professional world and offer firsthand experience in your potential future career. Observing how mature adults work in their environment helps you gain unexpected skills and promotes personal maturity.

Are there any awards that you’ve received while studying at Bangkok Prep that you are particularly proud of?

Last year, I was awarded the Most Valuable Badminton Player as I dedicated all my time and effort to the team as captain, and this year, we earned a silver medal in my final high school competition. Additionally, I received the ‘Highest Record for Further Mathematics’ award from the school last year, demonstrating that my hard work had paid off.

What are you most excited about as you transition to university?

I am eagerly anticipating stepping out of my comfort zone and embracing a life of independence as I move to another country. I look forward to engaging with new people and seizing the opportunities that await me.

What advice would you give to current students who are about to start the university application process?

Start early and plan ahead. It is always best to apply to many potential universities so that you have options to choose from later, even if it becomes complicated to pick your final destination. It is better to have more choices than fewer. Be sure to note down the deadlines well in advance.

Looking back, what would you have done differently during your time at school to better prepare for university?

I would note down the university deadlines early and start exploring potential destinations. Look beyond just the country you are interested in and consider other areas as well, as they might become interesting options. Don’t be too fixated at the start.

The curriculum prioritizes individualized learning, ensuring continuous progress while maintaining confidence and a can-do attitude. Specialist sessions in Thai language and culture, music, library, physical education, and swimming further enhance learning opportunities. Supervised by native English teachers and Thai-speaking teaching assistants, children immerse in language acquisition through the immersion method, preparing them for the international community. The Early Years program prioritizes outdoor learning environments, valuing them as essential for children’s wellbeing and development. It serves as ideal preparation for the transition into primary school and provides resources for parents on the Foundation Years website.
