ECO ECA Trip to the Forest Campus

ECO ECA Trip to the Forest Campus – Thursday 14th March 2024

Everything was set, children lined up with life jackets on, joined up in their bus lines. All 27, yes, you read that correctly, 27 children were ready to set off to the Wat Nok Pier to take the journey across to the Green Lung. The ECO ECA ventured to the Forest Campus on Thursday 14th March 2024. We had an exciting trip planned. All of the activities were planned by the ECO team members and were child-led. We focussed our attention once again onto our 3 main ECO Schools topics:

  • Reducing Waste
  • Global Citizenship
  • Healthy Eating

Members from 3 teams created 3 fun filled activities, the first of which was to plant bamboo seeds. An initiative which one team wants to help reduce pollution and increase air quality at our Primary Campus and now at the Forest Campus. It will be interesting to see which area grows the fastest and whether or not growing bamboo will impact the air quality at both campuses.

The second activity was to create finger puppets from waste and to increase the well-being of children through art, play and conversation. It was a fun activity and I know all of the children felt happier for participating.

Finally, the third activity was to build a bug hotel to help living things and especially creepy crawlies to flourish at the Forest Campus. First a location had to be found. After all, it is all about: Location. Location. Location, after all! A suitable location was found and then the children in the team went to work to collect stones, dead leaves, flowers, soil and off cuts of wood to build their superb bug hotel. I am sure the wild wife around the Forest Campus will greatly appreciate their new addition and will move in in no time!

It was an extremely enjoyable trip. A huge ‘thank you’ to Yeans and MS LT for coming with us and supporting us excellently and a huge ‘thank you’ events team for helping to organise such a busy trip. We also had a teacher from Rugby International School accompany us on the trip. He wanted to see what the ECO team does and how he may run a similar style of ECA and trip in the future.
