FOBISIA Maths Competition Results BKK Prep, Event, News, Secondary March 26, 2019 Last weekend Bangkok Prep sent two teams of gifted Mathematicians to compete against 64 other schools from the Asia region in the FOBISIA Maths competition at Alice Smith School in Kuala Lumpur. The 2 teams consisted of Year 7 Students – Atty, Bhudham, Ploytida, Ryutaro, Petch and Moji, and Year 8 Students – Ben L and Payu. They competed in challenges that tested their problem solving skills, mental arithmetic skills, geometric reasoning as well as some physical fitness. They also had the opportunity to visit Kuala Lumpur’s Petronas Towers and follow a Maths trail through the aquarium. The students performed admirably and remarkably well considering the majority were bottom age for the event. Bangkok Prep finished 8th out of 65 schools and was the best performing school in Thailand. The students participate in a Maths club ECA and are looking forward to welcoming some Year 6 students later in the year for a Mathematics masterclass that these students will host themselves.
