French Spelling Wizard Competition BKK Prep, Event, News, Secondary January 24, 2020 The French team at Secondary is excited to launch the first KS3 French Spelling Competition. This will be a House Competition and students will have a chance to win points for their House. All students who learn French in Y7, 8 and 9 will receive a list of 50 frequent words during the week commencing 27th January. Their homework will be to learn the spelling of all these words. There will be 3 stages in the competition: The week commencing 10th February, all Y7, 8 and 9 French classes will be tested on the first 50 words. 8 students from each class (the 2 students with the highest scores from each House) will move to the Year Group competition. These students will need to learn and practise the spelling of 100 words. The Year Group finals will take place the week commencing 2nd March: 2 Year 7, 2 Year 8 and 2 Year 9 students from each House will win the honour to represent their house in the Final. On 20th March, as part of the “journée de la Francophonie”, students will work with other members of their House and try to spell as many words as possible in 60 seconds. House points will be awarded in Year 7, Year 8 and Year 9. Stages 2 and 3 of the competition require students to spell the words using the French alphabet. There are many videos on YouTube to revise the French alphabet and students can also play the games on Linguascope.com to practise. The names of the winners at each stage will be shared through the Weekly Roundup. Thematic Magic Embracing the beauty of diversity in our Thematic class!
