Going for Gold: The Inter-Schools Championship! BKK Prep, Event, News, Sport, Whole School March 15, 2019 This weekend our BKK Prep Sailing Squad braved the strong winds and waves of Pattaya Bay to prepare for their most important race of the season: The Inter-Schools Championship! This event brings together the top sailing squads from international schools throughout Thailand for two days of tough racing. Winds were strong, generally averaging 16 knots and gusting to 18 knots. Our students experienced a sharp learning curve, with some boats capsizing a minimum of 5 times on the Saturday morning before lunchtime! By the end of the weekend, our Tactician Lorenzo Cassio had turned a set a set of good sailors into outstanding competitors. Team work was improved and tactics were perfected. This coming Sunday 17th March, we have our final day of training where our crews will be focusing on racing starts and roll tacking. The race itself will take place from 23-24 March, and all members of the Bangkok Prep Community are invited to come down to watch the racing and enjoy the facilities of the Royal Varuna Yacht Club.
