Happy Hinamatsuri! Japanese Girls’ Day on 3rd March 2019 BKK Prep, News, Primary March 1, 2019 It’s wonderful to be in an international school with so many cultural holidays to celebrate! This week in the library, we learnt about Hinamatsuri, Japanese Girl’s Day or Doll’s Day. In Japan, families celebrate by praying for the health and happiness of young girls and displaying ornamental Emperor, Empress, servant, and musician dolls in their homes. Special mochi treats and sushi are eaten for this festive celebration. Several of us made a sakura blossom tree craft. Come and check out our growing collection of Japanese themed and language books in the library, too. For more photos, click here.
