Happy Lunar New Year at Bangkok Prep!

Lunar New Year at Primary

This year is the year of the tiger!

新年快乐,恭喜发财!xin nian kuaile, gong xi fa cai

May the year of the tiger bring you and your family happiness and prosperity.

Our wonderful Year 6 students also created a Lunar New Year book with great stories, photos and videos. We hope you enjoy it!

On Monday, January 31st, Lunar New Year’s eve, our primary students all dressed up and had the chance of celebrating this special day with their friends and teachers. Students have had a fantastic week celebrating and learning.

In World Languages class, Students shared their own Lunar New Year traditions and how they celebrate the special festival.

Year 1-Year 6 students all had the opportunity to learn more about Chinese culture and they have enjoyed the craft activities.

In Year 1, students made fortune cat for more good luck. Year 2 students wrote their new year’s wish and made their own red envelopes. Year 3 students made jumping tigers and Y4&5 students made colourful dragons. In Year 6, students designed their first Chinese style fan.

Happy New Year of the Tiger at Secondary!   虎年大吉  万事如意

This week saw the Mandarin department help us all to celebrate the Lunar New Year. A huge thank you must be said for the hard work and dedication that went into ensuring that we were all able to celebrate with them. Students were able to watch a presentation created by Mandarin students explaining the story behind the 12 zodiac animals along with many of the traditions and customs that take place around this special time of year.

The Mandarin department, along with its students and support from the school admin team, spent much time and effort creating the beautiful decorations that adorn our school to welcome in the New Year. This year they have ensured to do this in a responsible and green manner; by recycling materials to paint and use as decorations.

Students now have the opportunity to learn some Mandarin songs ahead of our song competition at the end of the New Year celebrations on February 15th. How many can you recognise? Practise as much as you can to help earn points for your house!

Here are just a few…

We wish you all a happy and prosperous New Year!

Early Years

At Bangkok Prep, the Early Years curriculum follows the Early Years Foundation Stage framework of England, emphasizing thematic topics and child-led learning for a stimulating and enjoyable school experience. It nurtures learning through play and focuses on developing concepts, skills, and positive attitudes across various areas including personal, social, emotional, communication, language, physical, literacy, mathematics, understanding of the world, and expressive arts and design. The curriculum prioritizes individualized learning, ensuring continuous progress while maintaining confidence and a can-do attitude. Specialist sessions in Thai language and culture, music, library, physical education, and swimming further enhance learning opportunities. Supervised by native English teachers and Thai-speaking teaching assistants, children immerse in language acquisition through the immersion method, preparing them for the international community. The Early Years program prioritizes outdoor learning environments, valuing them as essential for children’s wellbeing and development. It serves as ideal preparation for the transition into primary school and provides resources for parents on the Foundation Years website.
