Head of School Message - Happy Songkran - Bangkok Prep

Head of School Message – Happy Songkran

Monday 4th April 2022

I would like to congratulate all of the students and Bangkok Prep for their remarkable progress in Term 2. We should all be very proud of our community’s fortitude and resilience during the last 24 months. I would also like to thank all Bangkok Prep families for their unwavering support.

The Songkran holiday is nearly upon us and I am sure that you are all looking forward to a well-earned break. During the break, I expect that many of us will be travelling on holiday and meeting family and friends. I hope that you are able to relax and enjoy this vacation period but please remember to keep yourselves safe. The COVID virus is continuing to spread throughout our community and we need to continue to be cautious. We are concerned that there may be an increase in the number of COVID cases following the Songkran break. To that end, we would like to ask everybody to perform an ATK test on Wednesday 13th April and again on Sunday 17th April. We believe that this screening process will help significantly reduce the potential risk following the Songkran holiday.

Did you know?

In ancient times, the dates of Songkran and the Vernal Equinox would have been closer, but they have shifted due to an effect called procession, where the Earth wobbles on its axis over a 25,000 year period.

As you are aware, we all have a collective responsibility to keep ourselves and others in the community safe. The easy transmission of the Omicron variant is a potential threat to us all. Please follow these simple guidelines to reduce the risk of COVID to yourselves and our community.

  • Wear a mask, use hand sanitiser and follow appropriate preventive measures
  • Eat and drink outdoors rather than indoors when visiting cafes, bars or restaurants
  • Avoid market areas and crowded place

New COVID Positive Case Reporting system

In order to make the COVID case recording process more convenient, we now have a firefly form to help you make a report more efficiently.

If you or a member of your family test positive, please complete this form to inform the Covid Action Team (CAT Team).

I wish you all a very ‘Happy Thai New Year’ and I am sure that we can all expect a more optimistic Term 3. I look forward to seeing you all safe and well when school reopens on Monday 18th April.

Warm regards

Head of School
