Health Update from the Head of School – Friday 31st January BKK Prep, Message from the Head of School, News, Primary, Secondary, Whole School January 31, 2020 Friday 31st January 2020 Dear Parents I would like to update you on some of the important preventative measures that we have put in place recently in response to the potential Coronavirus issue. In collaboration with other highly regarded international schools in Bangkok, we have taken the decision to cancel all internal and external activities, fixtures and trips involving other schools until Monday 24th February, as we want to minimise key risk factors. ECAs and other activities that involve only our students and take place on our campuses, will continue as planned. This decision will be reviewed during the half term break. We are working with the BMA (Bangkok Metropolitan Authority) and will continue to monitor and reassess the situation as necessary. Please see this World Health Organisation link (below) for more details: World Health Organisation – Thailand Clearly, prevention and precaution are the main actions we should take to minimise any risk to members of the Bangkok Prep Community. To reduce the risk of contraction as much as possible, we should all take reasonable, preventative, hygienic measures. Regular, thorough washing of hands with soap and water or an alcohol-based gel is key to preventing all infections. Hand sanitiser gels are available around the school and upon entry. We will be reminding children to wash their hands before eating at every given opportunity including bathroom visits, assemblies, PE lessons, lunch and snack times. The information related to the Novel-Coronavirus is from the World Health Organization (WHO) which you may find useful. At Primary and Secondary we will be sharing age appropriate presentations to raise awareness of healthy hygiene habits which will consistently and repeatedly include relevant reminders. If your child is feeling unwell and has a fever, please remain out of school until cleared by a doctor, the incubation of the coronavirus could be up to 14 days from the last point of contact. In addition, please be proactive and check your child(ren)’s temperature regularly. As a school, we will continue to monitor the developing situation and adjust our response accordingly. We appreciate your ongoing support as we work together to keep our children safe.
