Global BBA Student Voice: Reza, Indonesia

2022/11/28 Mon

Reza from Indonesia, studied his A-Levels in Thailand at Bangkok International Preparatory & Secondary School. He has joined multiple clubs at NUCB and was selected as a Mentor for the NUCB International College (Boarding School), International House. We caught up with him to see why he chose the Global BBA Program.

Why did you want to study in Japan?

I was actually born in Japan, and lived here for about 2-years. My dad often comes to Japan for work (Toyota) and always brings back snacks or souvenirs for our family. Japanese culture has always intrigued me due to its uniqueness. I also love Japanese food.

I’ve always wanted to come back to Japan, and I thought to myself why not come here for university? So then, I opened Japan as one of my destinations for university, and my school counselor actually recommended NUCB.

Are you part of any clubs on campus?

I participate in the American Football club and Basketball club. My whole life I’ve always liked doing sports, and I have played basketball since elementary school.

When I came to NUCB and heard there was an American Football team I was immediately interested. I’ve never played the sport before but I’ve always admired it and wanted to learn more about it. I still do basketball at the school but I only go once a week, mainly because I want to focus more on American football. My teammates are amazing, they are really friendly, and helpful, and always motivate me to get better.

What dormitory are you in?

I live in the brand new International House at NUCB International College as a mentor. The facility is really nice and modern, the food is really tasty and it doesn’t require me to cook. The high school students are also awesome, and I try my best to help them be the best version of themselves.

The Round 1 Admissions interview/Parent Open House at the School of Global Studies, Thammasat University

On Saturday, 17 December 2022, The HE team had the opportunity to attend the Round 1 Admissions interview/Parent Open House at the School of Global Studies, Thammasat University. As university counsellors, we were excited to get to know more about the school and its programs.

The day began with a meet and greet with the Dean of the School of Global Studies, Dr. Prapaporn Tivayanond Mongkhonvanit. It was great to speak with her and hear about her vision for the school and its students. She was joined by current and former students, who shared their own experiences and insights into what it’s like to study at Thammasat University.

Next, we had the chance to participate in a campus tour led by a current student. They showed us around the beautiful Thammasat University campus, highlighting key locations and facilities such as the library, classrooms, and student centre.

Throughout the day, there were also lectures and presentations by professors and lecturers on various topics related to global studies. These provided a great overview of the different programs and courses offered at the school, and gave us a sense of the academic and support available to students.

Overall, our experience at the Round 1 Admissions interview/Parent Open House was very informative and enjoyable. We came away with a much better understanding of what the School of Global Studies at Thammasat University has to offer, and I am now even more excited about the prospect of students who are studying there. I would highly recommend this programme to anyone considering applying to the school of Global Studies at Thammasat University.

Early Years

At Bangkok Prep, the Early Years curriculum follows the Early Years Foundation Stage framework of England, emphasizing thematic topics and child-led learning for a stimulating and enjoyable school experience. It nurtures learning through play and focuses on developing concepts, skills, and positive attitudes across various areas including personal, social, emotional, communication, language, physical, literacy, mathematics, understanding of the world, and expressive arts and design. The curriculum prioritizes individualized learning, ensuring continuous progress while maintaining confidence and a can-do attitude. Specialist sessions in Thai language and culture, music, library, physical education, and swimming further enhance learning opportunities. Supervised by native English teachers and Thai-speaking teaching assistants, children immerse in language acquisition through the immersion method, preparing them for the international community. The Early Years program prioritizes outdoor learning environments, valuing them as essential for children’s wellbeing and development. It serves as ideal preparation for the transition into primary school and provides resources for parents on the Foundation Years website.
