Lunar New Year Celebrations

Primary Lunar New Year Celebrations

We are thrilled to share our heartfelt gratitude and excitement following the unforgettable Lunar New Year celebration that took place at Bangkok Prep Primary Campus on the 13th of February.

The atmosphere was electrifying as students and staff came together to commemorate this occasion. The performances showcased by our talented students were mesmerizing, captivating the audience with their enthusiasm, skill, and dedication. Each performance reflected the spirit and essence of Lunar New Year!

The highlight of the event was undoubtedly the majestic dragon dance, a symbol of strength, wisdom, and good fortune. The vibrant colours, intricate choreography, and rhythmic movements of the dragon captivated the hearts of all who witnessed it, filling the air with an undeniable sense of joy and excitement.

We are immensely proud of our students for their hard work, creativity, and passion in bringing the traditions of Lunar New Year to life. Their performances not only entertained but also served as a beautiful representation of cultural diversity and unity within our school community.

As we reflect on the festivities of Lunar New Year, let us carry forward the spirit of unity, harmony, and prosperity throughout the year ahead. May the joy and blessings of this special celebration continue to inspire and uplift us in all our endeavours.

Secondary Lunar New Year Celebrations

With the fantastic decoration of our school campus, the spirit of the Lunar New Year came alive on February 12th at Bangkok Prep. This year, our Lunar New Year assembly was a resounding success, thanks to the enthusiastic participation of our students and the tremendous support from our staff and parents. We are thrilled to share the success of this event and highlight the incredible efforts of our students.

From traditional Chinese dance to captivating displays of Chinese kungfu, including a show by Mr. Lay and students, and the mesmerising Sichuan opera face-changing performance by our specially invited guest, Mr. Lee, the assembly was a vibrant celebration of the cultural heritage of China. The event concluded with a lively dragon and lion dance, leaving everyone in high spirits and filled with joy. The diversity of performances allowed our students to explore different aspects of Chinese culture, fostering a greater understanding and appreciation among our school community. Through their performances, they not only entertained but also educated their peers about the traditions and customs associated with the Lunar New Year.

But the festivities didn’t stop there! This year, we expanded our celebration to include lunchtime Chinese cultural activities, giving students the chance to immerse themselves in the traditions of China. From experiencing the beauty of calligraphy art through writing, to engaging in the ancient pastime of pitch-pot, and delighting in the excitement of knocking the bell, students had the opportunity to explore various aspects of Chinese culture firsthand. The Chinese costume photo station allowed students to step back in time and feel like stars in ancient China, creating unforgettable memories along the way. The participation was overwhelming, with many students joining in the activities and even winning prizes for their efforts.

Throughout the week, our celebration continued with a Chinese song competition, where students participated in houses to guess the name of the song and showcase their beautiful voices. This culminated in the lively finale of Karaoke house live singing, where students demonstrated their singing talents and added to the festive atmosphere of the Lunar New Year celebration..

As we look ahead, let us continue to celebrate diversity and embrace the rich tapestry of cultures that make up our school community. Together, we can create a more harmonious and inclusive environment where all cultures are celebrated and respected.

Wishing everyone a prosperous and joyous Year of the Dragon!
