MESSAGE FROM THE HEAD OF PRIMARY –31ST MAY 2019 BKK Prep, News, Primary May 31, 2019 “Thank you, well done, good luck and you’re welcome!” Dear all, Welcome back and well done to Jo North and our FOBISIA team (including Mr Ferrier, Ms Woodland and Mr Callow) who returned for the FOBISIA Games in Phuket yesterday. They ensured the safe return and sound performance of our, ever improving, FOBISIA teams who returned in really high spirits. Well done, Year 1 with a wonderful performance today which concludes our Year Group performances this year. Our Year 1 performers were amazing with children speaking clearly into the microphones despite that it is the first year that they have used them. Their confidence in performing was impressive their singing and superb dance moves wearing amazing costumes were an absolute pleasure to see. All the Year Group performances have been remarkable and really enjoyable. I must say, all the performances have been a particular favourite of mine this year. Well done, everyone! Thanks to Ms Dufes and her team, who presented a very informative and well attended KS1, EAL Workshop to parents this week. I have never seen parents working so hard in school workshops, until this year! In addition, I hope you managed to see the Year 5 Project Showcase this week focusing on cruelty to wild animals (impressive research) and I hope you all managed to pop along to our recent Science Week and in particular, the Science Fair and saw all the budding, enthusiastic scientists we have at Bangkok Prep. The Science showcase was an impressive, end of week, culmination of hard work, research and experimentation, largely thanks to Mr Duffin. However, clearly the parent’s support of their children was seriously impressive. I look forward to seeing more of this, next year. Moving forward, I am sure you are aware that the school’s forced closure in respect of the Queen’s birthday this coming Monday. I hope you are all ready to either tackle all the resources planned and organised on Firefly for all our children, or, you are going to take a well-earned break from Bangkok! Either way, please be reminded, our Firefly closure resources will go live on Monday morning. Please follow the clear instructions from each relevant Year Group should you wish to take advantage of them. When we return from the Long Weekend, we will be returning to our final transition event as everyone will be taking part in our Whole School Transition Day. Every Year Group (including Pre-Nursery) will move up to the next year group and meet several teachers that could be teaching them next year. They will all take part in fun activities in the next Year Groups classrooms and break out areas. A particular noteworthy mention has to go to Year 2 who will be moving in to Key Stage 2 for the day and Year 6 who will be spending the day at our amazing, Secondary campus (on their own). I am looking forward to what’s coming up before the end of the year which includes: The Nursery Car Show; FOBP Teachers Appreciation Lunch; Y3 Service Project Showcase; Year 5 Aztec Day & Project Showcase; The Early Years, Wheely Fun Day; Sports Awards; Year Group, Swim Galas; Afternoon Concerts; Year 2, Holiday Show for Parents; Judo Sleepover; Art Week, Prize Giving, Year 6 Graduation, Staff Appreciation Lunch (I am really looking forward to this, obviously) Reports and Year Books! To name, but a few! Phew! Finally, please could I remind parents and all visitors, it has been a long year and people are very tired across the community. Please do be mindful and wear your ID badges as requested, when entering the campus to assist our staff with ensuring the safety of our children, remains paramount. Have a great weekend everyone, look after each other and enjoy, every minute of it! Best wishes Brad Owen Head of Primary Thematic Magic Embracing the beauty of diversity in our Thematic class!
