MESSAGE FROM THE HEAD OF SECONDARY – 15TH MARCH 2019 BKK Prep, News, Secondary March 15, 2019 Dear Students, Parents and Colleagues, Our focus in school this week has been our annual Book Week. We had quizzes, readings, Faculty montages and today’s character dress-up. I was really pleased to see students get involved and was particularly happy to see some great staff involvement. We had the usual mix of Hermiones, Harrys and a lot of adventure heroes. Hopefully we have nudged a few reluctant readers into trying one of the suggested books. My character was based on an autobiography that I read when I was about 13 years old. The resilience and determination of the character called Papillon really made a lasting impression on me and I have really fond memories of reading it. How does the story end? You’ll have to read it to find out! Tonight our Student Action Team (SAT) will finally get to see the results of all their hard work, as about 100 KS3/Y10 students get to enjoy themselves at their Prom/Social. I am sure you will join me in thanking them for their hard work and community-mindedness. Our community can only be as strong as the shared contributions of all. There are a lot of FOBISIA events taking place over the next few weeks. We have our Climbing team in KL, the U13 Games in Phuket whilst next week Y7/8 Maths is underway in KL. We will also be welcoming back the Environmental conference to Primary, after it was postponed due to poor air quality. We then have other BISAC, World Scholars and Inter School competitions If you haven’t already done so please sign-up with Khun Mod for our next Parent Workshop on Tuesday 26th March. It will focus on the key question: “How can I get my child into the university of their choice?” This is a short question, but has many aspects that Mrs Allen (UGC) and I will explore with you. Have a great weekend.
