MESSAGE FROM THE HEAD OF SECONDARY – 1st February 2019 BKK Prep, News, Secondary February 1, 2019 Dear Students, Parents and Colleagues, This week staff and students were able to draw on their life values of ‘problem solvers’ and ‘resourceful’ as they used Firefly to ensure learning wasn’t interrupted by the school closure directive. As you already know we have a robust Air Quality policy in place as well as over 60 Air Purifiers across both campuses. We are confident our students remain safe in our school and are looking forward to opening on Monday. On Tuesday I was fortunate to meet nearly 30 parents, many of them new, in our Parent Workshop on how we keep students safe. Having good health and safety policies in place is as important as our safe recruiting procedures; so that we get safe teachers in front of our students. If you haven’t already done so please take the time to look over the shared presentation. We have nearly 600 students on the Secondary Campus now and we are beginning to feel the ill effects of many students leaving their belongings anywhere they wish, which causes a lot of headaches. We will therefore be insisting they use their lockers, which will need to be locked. We would love your support in this, could you please make sure your child has a suitable lock for their locker? We are discussing the issue with Student Council and the main problems seem to stem from a perceived ban on carrying bags to class and students not wanting to go back to 6th Floor lockers to get their PE kit. We are happy for students to take bags to class and are looking for storage solutions in the Sports and Aquatics centre. I am really looking forward to Wednesday as we have our Chinese New Year celebrations with a Dragon and Lion dance on the Astroturf. Students are welcome to dress up for the day although it should be in Chinese style or any type of red clothing. Please enjoy your weekend and we looking forward to opening on Monday at 8:00am.
