MESSAGE FROM THE HEAD OF SECONDARY – 25TH JANUARY 2019 News, Secondary January 25, 2019 Dear Students, Parents and Colleagues, We were disappointed not to have our Sports Day this week due to the forecasted poor Air Quality but were happy to see we made the right decision with regards the actual values on the day. Making a decision to cancel is always difficult, but we make our thinking simple by always putting student health first. The key for us was that the students would have had “prolonged” exposure, whilst being “active”. This would have been very different to short exposure when sedentary. On Tuesday I hope to see many of you at our next Parent Workshop where I will be outlining how we “Keep Students Safe” at Bangkok Prep. Please note that it will be in SA406 from 08:10-09:10am. Please let Khun Mod (secondary.sec@bkkprep.ac.th) know if you are coming so that we do not over or under order refreshments. If you cannot attend, please see the presentation on Firefly as we always share these with the community afterwards although you will miss out on my awful jokes. We have some very busy weekends and afternoons coming up with BISAC fixtures, so please keep watching the calendars to see what is on. I, for one, will be eagerly watching some home fixtures. Our sport facilities will have another addition soon as our Climbing Wall will be completed on Saturday. Once we have it certified safe for use, we will open it up to our FOBISIA climbers and ECA groups. PE will also be seeing how they can make use of a wonderful addition to our Sport and Aquatics Centre. Our climbers will then be prepared for their upcoming trip to Garden International School in KL for the FOBISIA Climbing Competition. Finally good luck to our Y12 Geographers who are on a 3-day field trip down to Rayong. I am sure they will enjoy the cleaner air! Have a great weekend and thank you for all your continuing support to us in school. Nigel Wilsonlock Head of Secondary Thematic Magic Embracing the beauty of diversity in our Thematic class!
