Message From The The Head Of Primary on Friday - Bangkok Prep

MESSAGE FROM THE THE HEAD OF PRIMARY – FRIDAY 5TH APRIL 2019

A New Term!

Dear All,

As we complete our first week of our final term this academic year, we have already welcomed 14 new families to our growing Bangkok Prep Community. We have staged a well-informed Parent Workshop on Understanding and Responding to Children’s Behaviour presented by Mr Breen (Deputy Head of Primary) and Dr Lynn Blakemore (Specialist in Early Years Education). Both presentations were well received and a joy to be part of.

I would like to take this opportunity to acknowledge the hard work of the staff this week. We have had a smooth start to this term after a long Songkran holiday. Particular thanks to Lynn Blakemore and Martin Breen for their Understanding and Responding to Children’s Behaviour Parent Workshop on Friday; Catherine Frisbie,  Jess Youlton, Christine Benjamin and Ms Petra for ensuring we took part in the TISAC Primary Choir Day @St Andrews 71 on Thursday. All the children and staff thoroughly enjoyed their experience. Well done, to Year 3 and Year 4 for their Transition activities on Friday morning. Thanks to our PE staff, led by Ms Jo North and all involved with teaching PE, who have also organised and led extra lunchtime sessions in preparation for the upcoming FOBISIA Games and especially for coping with the ‘insane’ heat every lesson. Thanks to Andy Wooldridge for the E Safety questionnaire; which will only improve our knowledge of what children and parents need to know more about. Thanks to everyone who have seamlessly welcomed new children to their Class, Year Group and Key Stage and well done to Year 1 for their projects exhibition, presented outside of the library (please do go and have a look).

I would like to congratulate David and Rebecca Cooke for the birth of their first child, Marnie Rosa Cooke. The whole family are happy, healthy and settling down really well.

A few reminders, ECAs Begin this Monday (until Friday 21 June) and I would like to thank all the parents who have ensured we can enforce our ‘No Hat, Play in the Shade’ initiative to help combat the heat. “Wear a hat!”

Although, we only have ten weeks of this term (nine left now), what a ten weeks we have planned for everyone! Events that we have to look forward to includes: Swim Galas; Science Week (beginning Tuesday 21st May); the Science Fair will be inviting parents in to our Sports Hall (Thursday 23rd May 08:00-11:45); Arts Week of activities (beginning on Monday 10th June). Prior to our Arts Week, we will have numerous Parent Informative Workshops and our final, whole school ‘Transition Day’ on Tuesday 4th June. As Year 6 spend the whole day at our Secondary Campus. Nursery to Year 5 will move up to their next year for a day of activities with other teachers in their next new and exciting classroom areas.

However, do not forget, we will have our traditional Prize Giving Assemblies (Invitation Only), Year 6 Graduation for Year 6 and their families, Sports Awards (Invitation Only) and our final end of year parties, after our final end of year reports have been released to parents on Wednesday 26 June. You can find all of these events, and much, much more in our school calendar on Firefly.

This promises to be a fun filled, super packed, finale to this academic year. I am particularly looking forward to our Formal End of Year Primary Concert on Friday 21 June (15:00-16:00) held in our Auditorium as well as my Judo Sleepover for all the judokas and their friends on Friday 14th June (Invitation Only).

Finally, I would like to invite all parents to the forthcoming FOBP General Meeting and Election on Wednesday 15 May at 08:15 – 09:35 (in the Auditorium).

Best wishes

Brad Owen
