Mid-Autumn Festival - Bangkok Prep

Mid-Autumn Festival

The Mid-Autumn Festival, also known as the Moon Festival or Mooncake Festival, is a traditional festival celebrated in Chinese culture. Similar holidays are celebrated in Japan, Korea, Vietnam, and other countries in East and Southeast Asia. The festival is held on the 15th day of the 8th month of the Chinese lunisolar calendar with a full moon at night. It is one of the most important holidays in Chinese culture with over 3,000 years’ history. On this day, the Chinese believe that the Moon is at its brightest and fullest size, coinciding with harvest time and family reunion in the middle of Autumn.

This week students in Mandarin class celebrated the Mid-Autumn Festival by learning the culture and tradition of the festival, eating mooncake and drinking Chinese tea. They also had the opportunity to create and design the festival cards and fans to express their understanding and appreciation of the festival.

We hope everyone had a Happy Mid-Autumn Day on Saturday September 10th.
