Neilson Hays Young Writers Awards News, Primary February 8, 2019 Each year the Neilson Hays Library invites students from Year 6 and above, to submit original children’s picture books as part of a writing competition. Year 6 have been working tirelessly over the past few weeks on this project for homework and have produced some exceptionally creative and imaginative pieces. However, after much deliberation, 5 stories have been chosen to be entered into the competition. Here is the list of the chosen entrants: Lottie Langdon – A Modern Voyage of Discovery Ashika Sachdev and Hannah Kiatsupaibul – The Shadow of a Princess Tongwang Yannakornthanapunt and Ben Termvivat – Journey through Time Annisha Sachdev – The Quest of the Lost Boy Elliot Fletcher – George’s Breakfast Journey Finalists If selected as a finalist, they will be invited to participate in a workshop at Chakrabongse Villas, where published writers and illustrators will critique and coach the students on their works. Winners Winners of the competition will get to see their works read out loud by prominent figures in the literary and art world, as well as be presented with certificates and a cash prize of 10,000 baht per category. There will also be a special Ambassador’s Selection Prize of 10,000 baht, presented by H.E. Ms. Donica Pottie of the Embassy of Canada.
