Primary and Secondary Eco Stall at the Green Winter Fair! - Bangkok Prep

Primary and Secondary Eco Stall at the Green Winter Fair!

A HUGE thank you to each and every member of the Bangkok Prep community who contributed to the ECO stall at the Winter Fair and helped to make it a successful event. The Primary and Secondary Eco teams were overwhelmed by the sheer number of generous donations.

The Primary Eco team prepared materials and signs, they then painted them to help decorate the Eco stall. The team also helped to sort through all of the donations, and chose the best quality items to go on display with the aim of being swapped, sold or donated to a good cause.

Each and every donation went to a good home! Firstly, a large number of items which would have been gathering dust were sold to a good cause, a total of 2,600 Baht was raised by selling items at a low price, providing them with a new purpose and a new home. This encouraged a large number of Bangkok Prep Green Winter Fair attendees to pick up a bargain or three!

Most of the items have now found a new home, whether that be with a Bangkok Prep community member, or with Second Chance Bangkok, who have now picked up the all of the remaining donations. Again, going to show just how much of a difference each and every donation has made to the local community. Planning the design

The Secondary Eco Team were set a task to make a game for the Eco stall at the Green Winter Fair.  They decided that Splat the Rat would be something that they could all work on and it would be fun for people to play at the fair.

The students were split into different teams: sourcing materials and design, making the board, painting the board and making the rat.   With the help of K Patty in the DT department, the students came up with a great design and each team set about completing their tasks ready for the fair.

“Although it was really hot and sunny around the start of the fair, we got so many people coming to the stall throughout the day. It was such a joy to be at the stall and see others enjoying the Splat the Rat that our team members made by hand using their breaks and lunches! Thank you so so much to everyone who offered to help us out throughout all the different processes from preparation to looking after the stall! I hope we’ll be able to hold another stall like this one if we ever get a chance again”:> – Kiri, Eco team leader

“Firstly, I would like to say a big thank you to all the Eco Team members for putting their effort into making our splat the rat game! It was quite a tough job to lead and plan out the tasks for each group to complete as we had such a limited time. Nevertheless, I enjoyed working with everyone and had great fun on the actual day. I hope next time we can collaboratively work together again!”  – Preme <3, Eco team leader

We also had this great cuddly toy donated so we ran a “Guess the name competition.  Thomas in Year 2 won the toy with the name “Flash”

All in all, Splat the Rat made 900Bt which will be donated to Precious Plastics Bangkok

A HUGE thank you to FOBP for helping to arrange and publicise the event on their social media pages. It was invaluable exposure. One parent approached the stall and asked whether we could arrange for an area in Secondary and Primary for parents to drop off their unwanted items, all year round. If you think this would be a great initiative, please do let or know. They can then arrange for this to happen.
