Primary Library School Author Day BKK Prep, Event, News, Primary October 16, 2020 Every year the Primary Library coordinates an Author Day to encourage students to enjoy and love reading the works of a particular author. The activities are brainstormed, planned and run by our amazing Library Helpers, whose enthusiasm and energy was an unstoppable driving force for the day. This year we celebrated the work of award winning British author Julia Donaldson through stories, a whole school quiz, songs, role play, games, and arts and crafts during class and break times. The day was fun, educational and memorable for everyone. On the Library office wall in the cafeteria, children voted for their favourite Julia Donaldson book. Of the nearly 60 Julia Donaldson titles we have in the Library collection, The Gruffalo was voted our favourite. Nursery had a visitor from the Library and Reception had storytime and activities. Key Stage 1 children enjoyed a whole morning of stories and activities planned by their teachers and TAs. There was a big turn-out for the Julia Donaldson movies and origami bookmark crafts that went on during break time in the library. Unfortunately, the garden story time and the scavenger hunt had to be cancelled due to the rain, but that did not stop the colouring and quiet activities in the cafeteria, nor the highly anticipated Gruffalo Crumble eating contest. Thank you to our awesome staff contestants for their house spirit and good sportsmanship in the intercultural Gruffalo Crumble eating contest and our returning MC, Mr Fletcher. Congratulations to first placed Bears (Mr Fearon), second placed Tigers (Ms Frisbie), followed by Lions (Mr Bird), and Elephants (Ms Freeman). DO NOT TRY THIS AT HOME. Whilst eating contests are popular in some cultures, choking is a real danger. Congratulations on your University Offers Nammon K.
