Quantum Physics Day Academic, BKK Prep, News, Secondary May 25, 2023 Three of our year 12 students recently attended a Quantum Physics Day at Patana School where they enjoyed furthering their understanding of Wave-Particle Duality through practical activities and discussions with 27 students from other schools eight different schools in the region. “Students participated in intriguing experiments that investigated different facets of quantum mechanics, which is one of the most complex areas of Physics. Students and teachers probed to gather knowledge in an effort to answer two deceptively simple questions: “What is light?” and “What is an electron?”. To do this, participants were split into two teams of nine groups, with each group consisting of three students from different schools. These mixed groups encouraged cooperation, communication and the sharing of diverse ideas throughout the day. As every student had a different level of knowledge about the topic prior to the event, all participants’ understanding of quantum mechanics was broadened as a result.” Student feedback: “Overall, I think the event was a really good experience as we were surrounded by people with similar interests to us and were able to share our ideas and different perspectives while also getting input from lots of friendly and knowledgeable teachers.” Alex R “I am so grateful for this amazing experience. It was a great opportunity for us to work with students and teachers across many different schools, while getting to discuss and share our ideas, which helped me to have a better understanding of quantum physics.” Fah N Natasha Goran Physics Teacher Thematic Magic Embracing the beauty of diversity in our Thematic class!
