Remembrance Day 2021 BKK Prep, Early Years, Event, News, Primary, Secondary, Whole School November 12, 2021 Remembrance Day is a time for us to pay respects to all the sacrifices many have made for the protection of our nations and the Armistice agreement that brought World War One to a close. On Thursday 11th November, across both campuses, Bangkok Prep students and staff observed a 1 minute silence at 11:11 am to honour the 11th hour of the 11th month when the guns of war fell silent. This year marks the 100th anniversary of the first Poppy Appeal in 1921. Poppies are a visual pledge to honour veterans and remember the sacrifices they made for the freedom we enjoy today. Each year, Bangkok Prep supports the Poppy Appeal. There will be poppies (and a collection of things like keyrings and stationary) in the school cafeteria and the security gate (see attached picture below). We encourage you to take a poppy and donate a minimum of 50 Baht. The funds raised will be donated to the Royal British Legion. The charity will use the money to make sure that those who have served to protect our freedom will not be disadvantaged by the sacrifices they have made. If you are willing to donate, please do. We appreciate your support on this centenary of the Poppy Appeal.
