Rising Star Ballet Performance BKK Prep, News, Primary June 14, 2019 Bangkok Prep ballerinas were proud to dance in The Rising Star Dance Studio’s 24th annual ballet performances. The Sleeping Beauty Ballet was performed at The M Theatre on Saturday 1 June and Sunday 2 June. Since its premiere in 1890 at the Mariinsky Theatre in Russia, with a musical score written by Tchaikovsky and based on the Charles Perrault fairy tale, Sleeping Beauty has been a favorite of every classical ballet company. Three Bangkok Prep students and one FOBP mother performed in the ballet this year: Maria Kuratana (Year 8) Akari Sonobe (2JW) Yasuko Sonobe (1PD) Yohko Sonobe (FOBP Primary Parent Coordinator 2019-20) The directors of Rising Star Dance Studio are former Bangkok Prep parents Fay and Vithaya Pansringarm. They are both accomplished artists, Fay a former ballet dancer from New York and ballet teacher of more than 30 years and Vithaya an acclaimed Hollywood actor. Their son Aaron graduated from Prep last year having studied at Prep from Year 1. Rising Star has provided after school dance clubs for the past 14 years. Ballet classes with Rising Star Dance Studios are available at Bangkok Prep through the ECA programme. Students wishing to dance in the annual performance must attend classes at the Rising Star Dance Studios in the 55 Thonglor Building. Partial proceeds of the annual Rising Star Dance Studio performance benefit The Wild Animal Rescue Foundation of Thailand. More than 100 children from under privileged communities in Thailand are donated tickets to attend this performance each year. Bangkok Prep has been a long term supporter of this event.
