Primary and Secondary Campuses Celebrated Book Week - Bangkok Prep

Secondary Book Week

From March 11th to March 15th both the Primary and Secondary campuses celebrated Book Week to truly represent our belief: One school, two campuses. At Secondary, we kick started the week with our guest author Elizabeth O’Sullivan delivering a stimulating creative writing assembly and poetry workshops. Immediately, there was clearly a buzz in the air and the excitement throughout the week only grew…

The Living Window display was yet another success as teachers from across the school selected one of their favourite books and created a visual representation of it for students and staff to enjoy during break times. Not only this, but students and staff participated in listening to teachers read their favourite five minutes from a novel which means something to them. Furthermore, students were also given the opportunity to read aloud to their classmates.

Alongside these activities, the library hosted a book swap using recycled paper and hosted a cafe to make the library the hub of all the action. Not only was there a bookmark design for students to have their design shared amongst all staff and students, but there was a ‘Guess the Teacher Reader’, which proved a smashing success as teachers hid with their faces buried in a novel. This is surprisingly more difficult to guess than you might think. Additionally, there was a Book Jam where students developed bunting to review a book, something you can still see around the campus.

Finally, all of the excitement culminated in our annual Dress Up Day, where all members of the community selected their favourite book character to dress up as. The final event was celebrated with a Book Quiz in the auditorium, where prizes and celebrations took place and prizes were awarded. The winner has been decided, but is yet to be announced for the quiz – so watch this space…

I would like to thank all of the staff and students for getting involved in the events of Book Week. It is undoubtedly one of the best weeks of the year and it is thoroughly enjoyable to spend it with such animated and interested characters in our community.

Until next year!
