Secondary Students Presented the First Ever Collaborative Studio Performance at T77 BKK Prep, News, Secondary January 11, 2019 A Christmas Carol, by Charles Dickens and directed by Claire Hullock, Teacher of Drama. An old bitter miser is given a chance for redemption when he is haunted by three ghosts on Christmas Eve… Miserable businessman Ebenezer Scrooge is known as the meanest miser in Victorian London. He overworks and underpays his humble clerk, Bob Cratchit, whose little son, Tiny Tim, is sick and may soon die. Will Scrooge learn the value of love, life and family? A Christmas Carol is a timeless classic written by Charles Dickens. Students at Bangkok Prep lead a very holistic life, which is full to the brim of fun and exciting opportunities. On Thursday the 6th of December students from Year 7 to 10 (and some Year 12 helpers) performed their version of a classic story. Over a period of many weeks, students spent time developing skills in narration and characterisation in order to work as an ensemble and present their piece of theatre to a studio audience. I am very proud to have worked with such a wonderful team and I thank all of the students for their time, commitment and energy in rehearsals and in the performance. I would also like to acknowledge all the supportive staff and parents of our wonderful community. A special thanks to Khun Bank, Wit, Gen and Khun Fam and the Facilities Team for all their help setting up lights, set and sound in the space for our very first public show. We have two wonderful students helping with technical this Year – Magnum in Year 9 is a great stage hand and Vivan in Year 7 who is in charge of sound; both students are turning into technical wizards. A very special thank you for the FOBP for their help with costumes for this show – special mention to Elena who spent many hours making and sewing costumes for the students. We hope this piece of theatre is the start of many more Secondary School Black Box Studio Theatre performances at Bangkok Prep.
