TISAC Large Orchestra Day BKK Prep, Event, News, Primary May 17, 2019 On Tuesday 14th May, Mrs Kellner and Ms Frisbie took 18 students from our primary and secondary Orchestra’s to the TISAC Large Orchestra Day hosted by Regents and SISB. We started the day at Regents where our students were given the music for the first time and had to work with other students in their instrumental section to learn and perfect their repertoire. There were 5 pieces in total; ‘Beautiful Blue Danube’, ‘Unsquare Dance’, ‘Gabriel’s Oboe’, ‘ Habanera’ and ‘Overture to William Tell’. These pieces were challenging with lots of key signature changes, some tricky rhythms and even a 7/8 time signature! After lunch, we transferred to SISB to begin full orchestral rehearsals. With 5 schools and over 70 students participating, the orchestra was visually very impressive. After a further 2 hours of rehearsals, we were finally ready to open the doors and welcome our audience. Despite a few nerves, the concert was a great success and was a wonderful reflection of a day’s hard work. At the end of the concert, everyone was tired but also happy and tremendously proud. An event such as this teaches our students so much more than how to play music. It also teaches them independence, resilience, dedication, perseverance, teamwork and discipline. A huge amount of effort goes into a performance, so well done to all of the performers for their hard work!
