UKMT Junior Mathematics Challenge 2020 Academic, BKK Prep, Event, News, Secondary September 11, 2020 In June 2020, Year 7 and Year 8 students competed in the first ever online UKMT Junior Mathematics challenge. The problems on the Junior Mathematical Challenge are designed to make students think. Most are accessible, yet still challenge those with more experience. The Challenge encourages mathematical reasoning, precision of thought, and fluency in using basic mathematical techniques to solve interesting problems. It is a notoriously difficult challenge held worldwide. Due to school closures, and under unusual and challenging circumstances, our mathematicians performed admirably. Bangkok Prep were awarded 28 certificates, including five Gold certificates. To recognize the highest performers in the Challenge, only the top-scoring 40% of participants are awarded Bronze, Silver and Gold certificates in the ratio 3:2:1. This gives an indication of what a huge achievement this is.
