Welcome Back from the Primary Music Department!

Hello and welcome back! My name is Miss Frisbie and I am the Head of Primary Music. Returning this year is also Ms Linda and Mr Jhonas. Ms Linda will be teaching Primary Music lessons to Nursery – Year 6 and Mr Jhonas is now our Head of Strings and Orchestra covering both Primary and Secondary. This means that Mr Jhonas now has several new exciting ECA opportunities for children to learn string instruments! Joining the the Music team this year as our new Primary Music Teaching Assistant is Ms Tangmo. She plays flute, ukulele, and piano and is very excited to join our wonderful community.

In our first Music lessons we are looking forward to getting to know the children, both returning and new, with Music games and movement activities. This first half term we look at beat and rhythm in our Music units. In Early Years we are learning to keep a steady beat through movement and when playing instruments. In KS1 we start identifying the difference between beat and rhythm and try to identify the rhythm of songs. For KS2, this means will we be looking at different styles of drumming from around the world and introduce polyrhythm, which is different rhythms being played at the same time.
