World Languages – Speaking Activities Academic, BKK Prep, News, Secondary September 25, 2020 “If you talk to a man in a language he understands, that goes to his head. If you talk to him in his own language that goes to his heart.” – Nelson Mandela Speaking is an integral part of our World Language lessons; after all, the whole point of learning another language is to be able to communicate with other people who also speak that language! Our students have the opportunity in lessons to engage in a wide variety of activities in order to build their confidence, practise vocabulary and structures, and develop fluency. Popular activities include games such as snakes and ladders, these activities help students practise their skills in a safe and engaging way, which is why they often prove popular (and noisy!). As a result, students make a lot of progress across the years and develop the confidence to have a short conversation in a different language in Y10.
