Year 11 Spanish Visit Barcelona-Gaudi - Bangkok Prep

Year 11 Spanish Visit Barcelona-Gaudi

Yesterday, Thursday 24th March, Year 11 Spanish students were offered the opportunity to enjoy some authentic Spanish food with Señora Chiponda, Señora Lucena and Señorita Lahuerta at Barcelona-Gaudi restaurant in Asok.

The students will be sitting their IGCSE speaking examination next Wednesday and so this was the perfect opportunity for them to build their confidence and practise their speaking skills ahead of this exam. It also provided a chance for students to taste dishes they have never tried before and get an authentic taste of Spanish cuisine and tapas culture.

Señor Jaume, the restaurant owner, created a bespoke menu for our students allowing them to taste a variety of typical tapas dishes and desserts as well as some Paella. The students ordered their food in Spanish and were then able to speak about the food (and a variety of other topics) in Spanish. We were really impressed at how much Spanish they used during the meal. Some have also written comments in (very impressive) Spanish, which can be found below.

Each student was then presented with a Spanish award related to stories of their time studying Spanish – a light-hearted moment for us all!

We are extremely proud of each and every single one of our students and the progress they have made throughout their Spanish language learning journey, and we hope they feel equally proud of themselves.

We wish you all the luck for next week, we know you’ll all do fantastically!

(Although I liked all the meals that I tried today, my favourite dish was the churros because, for me, desserts are the best. This trip was great because my friends and teachers make me laugh a lot. However, it made me sad when I thought that the majority of them are not going to study Spanish Next year.)

Fue una experiencia fantástica para todos los estudiantes y me alegró escucharlos pedir comida en español. ¡Qué ilusión!

(It was a fantastic experience for all the students and I was happy to hear them order food in Spanish. How exciting!)
