Year 5 Upcycled Fashion Show BKK Prep, News, Primary May 31, 2019 On Friday 24th May, Year 5 held an Upcycled Fashion Show as part of their Science Week learning. They used Science Week to recap on their learning about the properties of materials by testing a range of materials according to the properties that they required. Using that information, they worked in teams to design some rather spectacular outfits. Whilst the children were thinking carefully about the design features of their outfits and the practical materials that they should use, they were also trying to incorporate as many recycled materials as they could in response to our learning on plastic pollution and microfibers. The show itself was very entertaining. The models certainly enjoyed their moment in the spotlight whilst the designers that lined the catwalk clapped along to favourites from Madonna (Vogue/Material Girl) and David Bowie (Fashion). Well done to all of the children in Year 5 for working so well together during the project and well done to the Year 5 teachers and TAs for their cameo roles on the catwalk 🙂 Mr Fletcher wrapped in barricade tape and recycled plastic was a particular highlight.
