Year 6 Upcycled Goods Sale and Community Day May 10, 2019 Year 6 have had a very successful week, holding their first Upcycled Goods sale and Community day. On Tuesday 7th May, the Year 6 Genius Hour students sold a range of products that they had upcycled in the Genius Hour lessons. There were a wide range of creative, inventive products on sale, from accessory boxes and friendship bracelets, to mobile phone holders and flower vases. It was great to see the enthusiasm from the students and many were honing their entrepreneurial skills! The students successfully raised THB2600 which went towards funding our Community Day. Thank you also to FOBP who donated items for sale, which raised a further THB 2,800. On Wednesday 8th May, Year 6 welcomed 30 children, who came over with Helping Hands, for our Global Goals Community Day. In groups, the Year 6 students had researched one of the UN Global Goals, and presented their findings in an easy to understand, informative way. They then planned and ran an interesting, educational activity for the visiting children, connected to their Global Goal. The Year 6 teachers were extremely impressed with the creativity of their ideas, as well as their organisation, with many groups bringing in resources from home. Activities included ‘Recycling Basketball’, smoothie making, designing a Lego city and games designed by the children. A particular mention goes to Titi and Naani, who welcomed the students in Thai, with Naani continuing to do a fantastic job as translator! Well done to everyone involved!
