Primary Healthier School Day 2018 April 5, 2018 For several weeks leading up to the main event, Primary students have been learning through projects around the theme, ‘How can Bangkok Prep students be healthier?’ There was a wide variety of topics which engaged us in our learning: healthy eating, mindfulness, physical exercise, environmental concerns, and even hand washing. Bangkok Prep’s first ever ‘Healthier School’ Day took place on Monday 2nd April. Our Healthier School representatives presented an assembly of each year group’s project. Afterwards, students went to visit the exhibitions in room 215 to see all the projects. FOBP was also in the exhibition teaching students yoga, being mindful, and playing ‘guess the essential oil’. FOBP also made a poster showing us how much sugar is hidden in our drinks. Samitivej Hospital was busy taking our blood pressure and measuring our height, weight, and calculating BMI [Body Mass Index]. In addition, there was a lucky draw for a ‘Healthy Kid Check Up’ voucher, valued at more than 6,000 THB, compliments of Samitivej Hospital. We also tried alkaline water and tasted the difference between tomatoes rinsed in bottled water vs alkaline water. Prior to the event, a Healthier School poster contest was in effect to address, encourage, challenge, and remind all of us here at Bangkok Prep to make healthier choices. There were nearly 80 entries and it was very difficult for the student representatives to choose winners. Congratulations to the following who received a certificate and a THB 300 gift voucher to Kinokuniya: Ashley (Y6AW) and Kano (Y3LS) for most creative; and Ploytida (Y6SD), Yui (Y4AB), and Yurika (2RC) for most informative and persuasive.
