Key Stage 4: IGCSE Subject Option Blocks

Year 10 Option Blocks 2023-2024

In Years 10 and 11, students at Bangkok Prep will be studying towards the International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) examinations. There are a number of compulsory subjects:

• Mathematics
• English
• Physics
• Chemistry
• Biology
• Personal, Social, Health, and Economics Education (PSHE)
• Thai Studies
• Physical Education (PE)

Students must then choose one option from each block:

*All students registered under a Thai passport must study Thai.

You cannot study both:

• ICT and Computer Science
• Art and Photography
• Business Studies and Economics

We strongly recommend that all students study:

1. One humanities subject (Business Studies, Economics, Geography, History, Psychology)
2. One creative arts subject (Art, Drama, DT, Music, Photography)
3. One other subject.

Equally, we would not encourage students to pick three humanities subjects or three creative arts subjects. Students who do not elect to study a broad and balanced curriculum will undergo pastoral conversations to determine whether the curriculum they have opted for is sufficiently wide to allow for a range of opportunities at a later age.
