Year 1 Field Trip to Jim Thompson’s House November 14, 2017 ‘Amazing Thailand’ is the current Year 1 theme. To kick start the unit, we studied the life and mystery of Jim Thompson for history and went to visit the historical and beautiful Jim Thompson House Museum on Sukhumvit Road on Tuesday 31st October 2017. Seeing the brilliant colours of silk threads on display at the entrance, the gorgeous art exhibition, and historical religious artefacts was a truly cultural experience. When we returned to class, we wrote recounts of our trip and learned to weave, just like the silk weavers did. The children especially liked exploring the jungle landscaped garden and completing their activity books by searching for different features of traditional Thai homes and answering questions from the tour.
