Year 1 Reading and Phonics Workshop for Parents September 14, 2018 On Tuesday 11th September, the Year 1 team were delighted to welcome the Year 1 parents for a reading and phonics workshop. We did a short presentation on the different ways we teach phonics and reading in Year 1. We then had a range of different activities for the parents to try. We played phonics games including fishing for sounds and sorting sounds! We showed parents different questions and strategies for when they are reading with their children at home. We also introduced different ways that technology can be used to support phonics including QR code mats and online programme Teach Your Monster to Read. Full details of the workshop are available on the Year 1 Firefly page. We look forward to seeing Year 1 parents for the Year 1 Writing Workshop on 25th September at 8am in Room 215 at the Primary Campus.
