A Levels

BTEC Level 3

Students who take BTEC qualifications learn through hands-on, work-related learning in fields including Business, Information Technology, Music, Music Production and Travel and Tourism. BTEC is all about learning by doing as students dive into real projects, solve problems and apply their knowledge in practical ways.

Along the way, students build powerful, transferable skills - they think critically, tackle non-routine problems and design creative solutions using the latest technology. They also grow as communicators and collaborators, learning to negotiate, influence and present themselves with confidence. Self-management, adaptability and resilience are part of the journey, too.

The Extended Project Qualification

Advantage for university acceptance Student-led research Building future-ready skills

Advantage for university acceptance

Students open doors to brighter futures with the Extended Project Qualification (EPQ). Universities and employers highly value the independent research, analysis and project management skills that the EPQ develops.

Top universities worldwide recognise the EPQ as proof of independent learning, self-management and genuine research skill. Many institutions even offer reduced entry requirements for high-achieving EPQ students.

Student-led research

Students choose a topic and decide on the finished product -this could be a 5,000-word report, a performance, a piece of art, a community project or computer software. They keep a production log, recording each stage and reflecting on progress. Once the final product is complete, students prepare and deliver a presentation.

Learners get dedicated time with an EPQ supervisor and the EPQ Centre Coordinator to master these skills. The EPQ is graded A*- E and counts as half an A Level.

Building future-ready skills

Students manage projects from start to finish. Along the way, they dig deep into research, selecting and analysing information from different sources and making sense of complex ideas. They get creative, using new tech and flexible thinking to solve problems and make decisions that matter.

Every project is a chance to try, adapt and achieve. When it’s time to review, students reflect on what worked, what didn’t and how they’ve grown.
