At Bangkok Prep, students shape their future with the support of one of the largest dedicated Future Pathway Teams in the whole of Bangkok. The Futures Team is composed of highly experienced counsellors, externally accredited by organisations such as The International Association for College Admission Counseling (IACAC), The Careers Development Institute (CDI) and The Times Higher Education Counsellor Accreditation Programme (CAP), who are committed to guiding students to their best-fit universities and careers. Consequently, every learner is able to find their next step with confidence.From Year 7 onwards, students at Bangkok Prep follow a structured programme of advice, support and guidance encouraging them to explore their interests, identify potential options and then strategically plan their future objectives. Students and parents also have the opportunity to connect directly with over 300 leading universities from around the world through a range of events including the annual Future Pathways Festival. Ultimately, Bangkok Prep has an enviable track record of students successfully progressing to a range of top universities throughout the world including The United States, Canada, The UK and Europe, Australia, Japan, China and Hong Kong, as well as leading universities here in Thailand

Structured programme
Benefit from a bespoke structured programme designed to help shape student’s future pathways throughout their time in secondary school. From Year 7 students have access to a mixture of 1-1 and group sessions providing them with advice and guidance starting with the early stages of exploration, through making their IGCSE and A-level choices, to the more dedicated planning of university applications in sixth-form.

Steve has been Head of Future Pathways at Bangkok Prep since 2024. Born and educated in the UK, Steve has worked in a range of senior management positions at top performing schools in the UK and internationally as well as a brief period working in the commercial education sector. In the UK he was a successful teacher, Head of Department and Head of Faculty at a large Sixth-Form College where he was also on the board of governors. More recently he worked for the Wellington College China group, initially working in the Shanghai International school before taking on a group-wide role helping to develop and monitor university and careers guidance across the group's mixture of international and bilingual schools. Since arriving at Bangkok Prep Steve has overhauled the strategic focus of the Future Pathways Team with the aim of creating provision to rival any in the international school sector.
Edel Rio Tinto has been a member of the Futures Team at Bangkok Prep for the past two years. Edel has international experience across education in Japan, Ireland, and England. A graduate of TU Dublin with a BSc in Marketing. She holds advanced qualifications including a Master of Education in Bilingual Learning and a Postgrad in Careers Leadership from Warwick University, underscoring her commitment to high-quality student guidance. Edel maintains a deep passion for Careers Education, and she has developed programs to help increase aspirations, character, and excellence for all students. Edel finds great professional challenge and enjoyment in ensuring that the students at Bangkok Prep are well prepared for university or the workplace and that they can make informed decisions about their future.
Charisma Murray joined Bangkok Prep in August 2025 as the Head of University Guidance. Prior to Bangkok Prep, she was working in Hong Kong as a teacher and department head before moving into a guidance counselling role in 2016. Her previous teaching experience covers a variety of subject areas, including the sciences, social sciences, and social studies.
Charisma is an Ontario Certified Teacher, holding a BSc (Hons) degree from the University of Toronto in Biology and Geography, as well as a BEd degree from Ontario Tech University. She also completed her MEd degree from The University of Hong Kong with a specialism in Guidance and Counselling.
Charisma uses her diverse background to support students with their academic and post secondary planning. She has been working closely with the Future Pathways Department in redeveloping the Year 12 and Year 13 Futures program, and expanding the community sessions to better inform both students and parents of the university planning process.
Alexander Manners joined Bangkok Prep in 2024 as a Future Pathways Counsellor. He is a qualified and registered Careers Advisor from the UK and holds a Master’s degree in Careers Counselling from the International Centre for Guidance Studies (iCeGS) at the University of Derby. Alexander began his career in education at Oakham School as an intern Careers Advisor.
Before moving into education, he worked in fashion publishing and advertising, gaining international experience across Malaysia, China, Japan, the UAE, Greece and Indonesia.This diverse background underpins his expertise in supporting students pursuing creative, fashion and hospitality pathways, as well as his commitment to ethical and culturally responsive guidance.
Alexander has a strong interest in international school education, cross-cultural and third-culture careers development and early careers education. He contributes articles to the CDI’s Careers Matters magazine and THE Counsellor from Times Higher Education, and is dedicated to helping students make informed choices about their futures through targeted coaching in interview preparation and creative portfolio development.
Deepa Parekh has been the Futures Pathways Counsellor at Bangkok Prep since 2024, bringing over two decades of educational and cultural experience to her role. Having lived in Bangkok for 21 years, she has a deep understanding of the city’s international landscape, its families, and the mindset of students growing up in Thailand, allowing her to guide them with nuance and insight.
Deepa holds an Honours degree in Commerce from the University of Kolkata and a professional qualification from the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India. She has taught IGCSE and A-Level Economics, Accounting, and Business, and her experience as a Cambridge teacher and examiner enables her to support students with informed academic context as they prepare for competitive university applications.
She also liaises extensively with global universities, plays a key role in organising the Greater Bangkok University Fair, and has visited numerous institutions across the US, UK, Australia, and Europe—offering students first-hand insight into a wide range of higher education environments.
Martin Zarate joined the Future Pathways team in 2024, bringing extensive expertise from a counseling career that began in 2008. He holds a Master’s degree in Counseling from Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles and is also a credentialed school administrator form the California State University, Dominguez Hills. With a global professional background spanning the USA, China, and now Thailand, Martin specializes in both Social-Emotional Counseling and university guidance. Since joining Bangkok Prep, he has been instrumental in supporting students through diverse global applications, conducting mock interviews, and supporting sports scholarship placements. He notably piloted the PSAT program at the school and collaborates closely with the PE department to help student-athletes transition to collegiate programs in the US. Martin is dedicated to helping families navigate complex educational pathways to find the "best fit" university for every student’s future success.
Kanthanut joined Bangkok Prep in 2023 as the school’s dedicated specialist in university pathways within Thailand. A highly qualified and experienced adviser, Kanthanut completed her secondary education at Triam Udom Suksa School and holds a Bachelor of Arts in Children’s Literature as well as an MBA - completing her postgraduate coursework in ‘Career English for International Communication’.
With over ten years of experience in university administration, including roles at Thammasat University, Kanthanut possesses an extensive knowledge of Thailand’s higher education system. This knowledge and experience enables her to provide unrivalled guidance to students and families as they navigate the complexities of the Thai admissions process.
As a THE accredited counsellor Kathanut guides students with with clarity, structure, and reassurance adopting a calm, student-centred approach which ensures students feel supported, confident, and well-prepared as they take their next step into higher education.

Calista
David is an alumnus who completed his A-Levels in Biology, Mathematics, and Business Studies before earning a BBA in International Business Management from Assumption University, graduating in 2016 with second-class honours. He is currently an MBA candidate at the Sasin School of Management, Chulalongkorn University, and is also the Co-Founder of Noi Kwa Roi Bar & Restaurant. Guided by the belief that “every failure is a lesson - if you’re not willing to fail, you are not ready to succeed,” David continues to build his academic and entrepreneurial journey with resilience and determination.
Pie is an alumna who completed her A-Levels in Double Mathematics, History, and Economics and is currently studying for an MSt in Entrepreneurship at the University of Cambridge, alongside musical theatre writing at New Musicals Inc on a scholarship. She previously worked as a Hub and Community Manager at Startup Thailand in 2019 and gained national recognition as the online vote winner of the “Change Thailand” political reality show in the same year. Her entrepreneurial achievements also include winning UCLU EFS Startup of the Year and True Incube’s Mobile App Challenge in 2017, reflecting her strong engagement at the intersection of innovation, creativity, and social impact.
Nagaya is an alumna who completed her A-Levels in Biology, ICT, Chemistry, and Mathematics before graduating with First Class Honours in Biological Sciences (Medicine) and a minor in International Studies from Mahidol University International College in 2019. She also studied abroad at Université Nice Sophia Antipolis and Hawai’i Pacific University. Currently, she serves as Assistant Director at Incas Organic Superfoods (Asiya Life Co., Ltd), where she works on marketing and sales distribution, event coordination, and R&D for new product lines. Guided by the belief that experiences are irreplaceable, Nagaya continues to grow within the start-up world.
Nawal is an alumna who completed her AS-Levels in ICT, Mathematics, and Business Studies before earning a BBA in Accounting with a minor in Marketing from Thammasat University, graduating in 2017 with second-class honours. She also gained international exposure as an exchange student at the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology. Nawal is currently a Senior Audit and Advisory (Assurance) Associate at PricewaterhouseCoopers ABAS Ltd., where she has been working full-time since June 2017. In this role, she serves as a senior advisor in PwC Thailand’s Capital Markets and Accounting Advisory Services (CMAAS) department, acts as a team manager and senior auditor for a multinational oil and gas corporation listed on the NYSE, and coordinates large-scale financial transformation projects for listed conglomerates. Alongside her corporate career, she works part-time as an Ecommerce Assistant Manager at House of Gold Co., Ltd., a market leader in fine dining products in Thailand, supporting the company’s overseas expansion by identifying suitable online marketplaces and developing short- and long-term performance objectives. Guided by the belief “Seize every opportunity and make it great!”, Nawal continues to build a dynamic career in the corporate world.
Ratanon is an alumnus of Bangkok Prep School. He completed his A-Levels in Mathematics, Chemistry and Physics before pursuing a BEng (Hons) in Chemical Engineering at Lancaster University, graduating in 2018 with First Class Honours. He then went on to earn an MSc in Advanced Chemical Engineering with Process Systems Engineering from Imperial College London, completing the program in 2019. During his academic journey, he gained valuable industry experience through internships in the energy and financial sectors with Thai Oil and Finnomena. Guided by the belief that “every storm runs out of rain,” Tap continues to apply resilience and determination in his professional path.
Shalini is a Bangkok Prep alumna who completed her A-Levels in ICT, Mathematics, Chemistry, and Physics before earning a BBA in International Business from Chulalongkorn University, graduating in 2019 with Second Class Honours. She also gained international exposure as an exchange student at Boston University, Deakin University, and the London School of Economics. Shalini is the owner of Shaza by Shalini, an eco-friendly activewear brand crafted from recycled fishing nets and plastic bottles, and also works as a Marketing Executive at Technogym Thailand. Guided by the belief that “the key to success is to start before you are ready,” she continues to build a career rooted in sustainability and innovation.
Calista Millar graduated with a First Class BSc in Psychology from Durham University. She achieved an outstanding dissertation mark of 74% for her research exploring the effects of lockdown restrictions on student mental wellbeing and motivation. The Bangkok Prep Alumni family is incredibly proud of her achievements and looks forward to seeing what she accomplishes next, wishing her every success in her future endeavors.
